FAQs

What is your nutrition philosophy?

I believe that all foods fit as part of a healthy lifestyle. I believe our society has evolved to a place where food holds unjustified moral value. I believe food can be delicious, can bring people together to connect and sometimes is just food, filling our physiological need for energy.

I believe that our bodies have an amazing ability to self-regulate, and that we can re-learn how to listen to the mechanisms our bodies use to communicate. I believe that once we learn to trust in this ability, then nourishing our bodies becomes joyful.

What happens before our first session?

Before our first session, you will receive an email containing some simple paperwork. This is where you will enter your billing information, sign consent forms, and view our practice policies. This should only take about 10 minutes.

Do you provide meal plans?

It is not part of my practice to provide meal plans. Rather, my approach involves teaching clients the skills to know how to nourish their bodies instead of relying an external influence to tell them what to eat. Teaching these skills is at the heart of my work and getting clients to a place of confidence in feeding themselves involves nutrition education, exercises in body attunement and exploration of feelings about food.

What can I expect if I am seeking guidance in feeding my children?

We will discuss the kinds of foods you are offering, when you are offering these foods and what the general atmosphere is around meals- is it enjoyable or stressful? I believe that in order to raise a happy and healthy eater, it is necessary to not only discuss the “what” of feeding but the “how.”

How long and how often do clients work with you?

The answer to this question is highly personalized and depends on your situation and goals. Frequency of visits often begins with weekly sessions then tapers off to every other week and even monthly. The duration of our work together depends on your goals and when you feel you have achieved what you came for.
